Group

Groups in Sift are the fundamental unit of analysis. Every group contains data pertaining to Workspaces, Workspace Trials, and Trial Frames. This data is sectioned into conditions, which allow you to determine specifically which data is included in a group. Although there may be multiple conditions within a group, conditions designed to supplement each other, not to compare against each other. If you want to compare data for your analysis, we recommend setting up multiple groups, and comparing at the group level, as opposed to the condition level.

There are multiple types of groups, including:

  • Query: The “standard” unit of a group. Created by querying CMZ file(s) and extracting useful data.
  • Normal Database Query: Similar to a Query, but built from pre-made Sift Normal Database Files.
  • Registered Curves: The result of a Curve Registration done upon another group.

These groups are shown in the Groups and Workspaces Widget, with their corresponding Conditions.
